Prep and AfterCare

BEFORE YOUR APPOINTMENT

Brow Permanent Makeup Prep List

This prep information is given so that you can have the best outcome possible! When there is more bleeding than usual it can cause the pigments to heal on the ashy side or even dilute them so the retention isn’t where we would like it to be.

  • Discontinue Retinols on your forehead one month prior, retinols migrate in the skin, you can still use from cheek bones down.

  • If taking Antibiotics, you will need to be off of them 7days prior to procedure.

  • Do not wax or tint your brows 3 days prior to your appointment. Electrolysis 7 days prior.

  • If considering Botox, you just want it to be settled and your brows are where you prefer them. This could take up to 2 weeks.

  • Do not tan for the week prior, I cannot work on sunburned skin!

  • Do not have any type of facial/peel 2 weeks prior.

  • Do not workout the day of your procedure.

AFTER YOUR APPOINTMENT

Aftercare for Brows:

  • 30min after use the gauze provided to blot any wetness or oozing lymph. We don’t want the lymph to create a crusty outer layer on the brows.

  • The night of, you can blot brows with cotton and water to remove any extra lymph. You may also apply your cream.

  • You may take a Benadryl or anti inflammatory if needed. Do not ice the area. Do not use Neosporin or Polysporin on area.

  • Days 1-3: The pigment will appear to be much darker and bolder in color. This is NORMAL!

  • Days 1-7: You may GENTLY wash your brows 1-2 times a day using only super mild face cleansers such as Cetaphyl. Water wipes are also ok to use. Do Not scrub! After cleaning, make sure they are dry before applying the cream that was provided. You really only need a small amount of cream. You don’t want them to look greasy.

  • Days 3-5: Brows begin to exfoliate and lighten. It is normal to have tightness and some itching. DO NOT scratch or pick!, this can cause scaring.

  • Usually the cream is only needed up to twice a day, but if your brows look really dry and flaky then use more as needed to pat the dry skin down. No SPF or makeup on brows for 7days.

  • Your brows may not heal at the same rate, one side may heal faster than the other, this is normal.

  • The color takes 2 weeks sometimes more to fully “Bloom” do not panic if you see some areas where the pigment is lighter. I always work conservatively on the first session to see how your skin takes the color, knowing I can always go darker at your touch up appointment.

IMPORTANT REMINDERS:

  • No sweating! You may do a light workout as long as you don't sweat on your forehead 3-5 days. The saline in your sweat has the potential to cause pigment migration.

  • For 2weeks post: no swimming, sun exposure, saunas, facial treatments including laser and chemical, Botox on brow area. Baby those brows!

Aftercare for Lips:

DAY OF PROCEDURE:

  • Lips are likely to be swollen and could have small bruising, this is normal and will subside within the next few days.

  • Lips may ooze clear liquid, this is called lymph, it is important to keep lips clear of this so it doesn't create a hard crust on outer lip area. You can use a cotton pad with water to remove.

  • You will also be consistently using Aquaphor or shay butter lip balm to keep lips moist. Grape-seed and Vitamin E oils are ok to use.

DAYS TWO TO SEVEN:

  • Lips may still be a bit swollen and tender, try not to ice them.

  • Usually by day 3, you will get quite a bit of shedding. Do Not pick or peel, this can cause scaring.

  • After initial shedding lips will appear to be lighter, the color takes about 2weeks to fully bloom.

  • They can feel very chapped during this week, do not use any topical balms for cold sores such as Carmex or Blistex, these can dry the lips out even more!

  • Do not use Vaseline, Neosporin, Lipsticks, or creams that contain acids or exfoliants.

FOR TWO WEEKS AFTER:

  • Avoid swimming, saunas, direct warm water on lips in shower.

  • No direct sun, tanning, tanning beds.

  • You can resume your facial care needs after 2 weeks.

REMINDER: these all apply again for your touch up appointment (6-8wks out).
